R-P Lacrosse Opens 2013 Season

  Your Reeths-Puffer varsity Lacrosse team played their first game this past weekend against a strong Caledonia program. This was the first opportunity for our the team to get outside this spring, which showed in an 18-6 loss. Highlights  included Casey Trautner with 2 goals and an assist, Curtis Pek with a goal and 2 assists, Colt Shaffer with a goal and an assist, and Kyle Kolbe and Alex Dinger with 1 goal each. Your Rockets play at Northview this Wednesday at 7:00.

R-P Girls Win Soccer District Title

Congratulations to Coach Jeremy Tjapkes and the R-P Girl’s Soccer team for winning the District 31 Championship on June 2nd at Fruitport. The Rockets defeated the Spring lake Lakers 2-1 as Natalie Yeck and Clair Krohn each scored a goal.

The Rockets now advance to Regional play in Cedar Springs against DeWitt High School. The date and time of the game has yet to be determined due to the original date and time of June 5th @ 7:00 p.m. conflicting with Reeths-Puffer’s graduation ceremony.

Eric Hilt Recognized as Detroit Free Press Scholar-Athlete

Eric Hilt, Reeths-Puffer senior, has been recognized under the Detroit Free Press Scholar-Athlete program. This award is presented to a senior boy or girl in each high school throughout the state who best exemplifies athletic and academic excellence during their high school career.

Eric has a 3.913 Grade Point Average and will be attending Muskegon Community College to pursue a career in Nursing. He is a two-time All-State award winner in Soccer. As a junior, Eric received Honorable Mention All-State honors , and was a Second Team All-State winner as a senior.

The Free Press will publish a special section and display on freep.com on 06-10-12, which will recognize Eric and approximately 700 other student-athletes from across the state.

Sports Physicals for R-P Athletes and Band Members

Cost: $20 payable to Reeths-Puffer Athletics

Soccer Wins At G.R. Union

Last night the girls varsity soccer team defeated GR Union 10-0 to improve their record to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play.  Leading the way was Taylor Walker with 2 goals and 1 assist.  Natalie Yeck had 2 goals, while Grace Swanson, Claire Krohn, and Taylor Horan all had 1 goal and 1 assist.   Olivia Nelson, Paige Baustert, and Candice Fredricks each added 1 goal, while Kaylie Cartwright and Kaitlin Richardson each had 2 assists.  Gabby Klemp earned her 4th shutout of the season, making 1 save.

Rocket Lacrosse Wins At Comstock Park

The Rocket Lacrosse team defeated Comstock Park yesterday 8-4, to improve their record to 5-3. Dean Griffin led the scoring with 3 goals, followed by Curtis Pek with 2 goals and an assist.  Alex Dinger, Brad Hibbs and Justin Bolak each added a goal each, with nice assists from Josh Blackburn, Eric Nienhouse, and Casey Trautner. Jake Visger was impressive in net with a ton ofnice saves. The defense was led by Justin West with 4 takeaways, and Cam Stolzman and Luke Sessink had several blocked shots. The Rockets play Holland Christian and Hudsonville on Saturday. Homegames start May 5, so plan on checking out the fastest growing sport in the US. Go Rockets!

R-P Lacrosse Defeats South Christian


The Rocket Lacrosse team won a hard fought game against Grand Rapids South Christian yesterday. After taking an early lead, the Rockets fell behind, only to rally back and beat theSailors 11-9. Curtis Pek and Dean Griffin led the scoring with 3 goals and an assist. Eric Nienhouse had 2 goals and an assist.  Alex Dinger and Justin Bolak each added a goal. The Defense was led by Clark Nelson and Justin West with several key takeaways and clears. Goaltending was provided by both Jesse Trebilcock and Jake Visger.

The Rockets play Spring Lake’s Varsity on Wednesday, Comstock Park on Thursday, and Holland Christian and Hudsonville on Saturday.
