Eric Hilt, Reeths-Puffer senior, has been recognized under the Detroit Free Press Scholar-Athlete program. This award is presented to a senior boy or girl in each high school throughout the state who best exemplifies athletic and academic excellence during their high school career.
Eric has a 3.913 Grade Point Average and will be attending Muskegon Community College to pursue a career in Nursing. He is a two-time All-State award winner in Soccer. As a junior, Eric received Honorable Mention All-State honors , and was a Second Team All-State winner as a senior.
The Free Press will publish a special section and display on freep.com on 06-10-12, which will recognize Eric and approximately 700 other student-athletes from across the state.

Last night the girls varsity soccer team defeated GR Union 10-0 to improve their record to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play. Leading the way was Taylor Walker with 2 goals and 1 assist. Natalie Yeck had 2 goals, while Grace Swanson, Claire Krohn, and Taylor Horan all had 1 goal and 1 assist. Olivia Nelson, Paige Baustert, and Candice Fredricks each added 1 goal, while Kaylie Cartwright and Kaitlin Richardson each had 2 assists. Gabby Klemp earned her 4th shutout of the season, making 1 save.
The Rocket Lacrosse team defeated Comstock Park yesterday 8-4, to improve their record to 5-3. Dean Griffin led the scoring with 3 goals, followed by Curtis Pek with 2 goals and an assist. Alex Dinger, Brad Hibbs and Justin Bolak each added a goal each, with nice assists from Josh Blackburn, Eric Nienhouse, and Casey Trautner. Jake Visger was impressive in net with a ton ofnice saves. The defense was led by Justin West with 4 takeaways, and Cam Stolzman and Luke Sessink had several blocked shots. The Rockets play Holland Christian and Hudsonville on Saturday. Homegames start May 5, so plan on checking out the fastest growing sport in the US. Go Rockets!
The Rocket Lacrosse team won a hard fought game against Grand Rapids South Christian yesterday. After taking an early lead, the Rockets fell behind, only to rally back and beat theSailors 11-9. Curtis Pek and Dean Griffin led the scoring with 3 goals and an assist. Eric Nienhouse had 2 goals and an assist. Alex Dinger and Justin Bolak each added a goal. The Defense was led by Clark Nelson and Justin West with several key takeaways and clears. Goaltending was provided by both Jesse Trebilcock and Jake Visger.
The Rockets play Spring Lake’s Varsity on Wednesday, Comstock Park on Thursday, and Holland Christian and Hudsonville on Saturday.
The Lady Rocket JV Tennis team dominated the competition this past weekend at the Fruitport Invitational. There were six flights at this six team tournament and the Lady Rockets captured first place thanks to four flight championships and two runner-up finishes. Winning the top flight, and becoming the top doubles team in the tournament, were Kalie Beerman and Brooke Vanderstelt. Other flight champions were Sierra Boyd, Gwen Swanson, Rachel DeMuro, Heather Murphy, Megan Kendra, Courtney Prim, Lindsey Meyers and Ashton Marshall. Taking runner-up positions for the Rockets were Courtney Burnham, Holly Herline and Madeline Pavlik. The pivotal win for the Rockets came at one doubles where Kalie and Brooke won in a tie-breaker over a previously undefeated team from Spring Lake. This win also ended Spring Lake’s bid for a three-peat in this tournament. Grandville came in third. Congratulations Lady Rockets!
It’s hard to believe, but 20 years has passed since the 1992 Reeths-Puffer-Rocket Football team won their State Championship. In honor of the anniversary of this accomplishment, we are inviting all memebers of this team to Homecoming on 10-05-12 for a halftime presentation.

Congratulations to Cody Stenberg and Tyler Stenberg as they both earned All-State honors this past weekend in Auburn Hills, Mi.
Tyler finished in 5th place after recording two straight wins to reach the semi-final round at 130 lbs. In his 3rd match, Tyler lost a major decision to Anthony Gonzalez of Holly High School, who eventually won the championship.
Cody won three matches in a row to get to the championship match. In the finals, Cody lost a hard fought match in overtime, 10-08. Cody handled this defeat with great class, earning praise from both the press and his home town community.
Congratulations to Cody and Tyler for earning All-Sate honors and a place on our Trophy Row Wall Of Fame!
