About Mr. Olian

Brian J. Olian is currently in his seventh year as Associate Director of Bands at Reeths-Puffer Schools in Muskegon, Michigan.  Mr. Olian graduated from Michigan State University in 2004 holding a bachelors degree in music education and is currently working on a master’s degree in music education from the American Band College of Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.  He is the conductor of the High School Concert Band and Symphonic Band, and assists with the Rocket Marching Band and the 5th, 6th, and 7th grade bands.  In addition to his appointment at Reeths-Puffer Schools, Mr. Olian is a member of the conducting faculty at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, a position he has held since the summer of 2005.  Mr. Olian has been a guest conductor with the West Michigan Concert WINDS, and was selected as the conductor for the 2008 District 7 Honors Band.  In 2009, he  received the ASBDA’s Outstanding Potential Award for early career excellence in band education.  Mr. Olian is a member of Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association, the Michigan Competing Bands Association, and Bands of America.
