The 2009-10 school year marks my 16th year as Principal of R-PHS and 27th year in education.
My educational career began at Grant High School in 1983 as a Biology and Health teacher. I spent seven years with Grant as a teacher and coach. In 1988 I was honored as Teacher of the Year in Newaygo County as well as Coach of the Year in the sport of basketball for Muskegon County. The relationships I established with the Grant community still thrive today.
In the fall of 1990, I was hired as the Assistant Principal at R-PHS. I spent three years in this position before taking on my current role as Principal of the High School in 1994.
Highlights of my R-P career to date have been the construction of our current high school, our state championship in football and the numerous state championships and national championship in marching band.
In 1997, I was named MASSP’s Center 3 Principal of the Year, an honor that truly is a reflection of those that worked with me to make R-P such a great place to learn, contribute and compete.
The professional satisfaction that I’ve experienced over the course of 19 years at R-PHS is grounded in the quality staff members that I’ve been able to bring to our district. We are very fortunate to have so many passionate, caring and dedicated staff working with our student body.
I’m also a very proud parent of two R-PHS graduates! My daughter, Lindsay (class of 2002) was very involved in sports and fine arts and is currently a successful first grade teacher in the Chicago Public School System. My son, Drew (class of 2006) was a solid athlete in football, basketball and baseball. He is currently a senior at the University of Michigan studying marketing. I’m also a proud step-father of two talented young ladies; Justine, a college student at MCC and Ashley, a senior at Whitehall High School. My wife, Suzanne, is the Integrated Health Nurse for Muskegon County Community Mental Health and a huge supporter of the Green & White!
Our campus is beautiful, our staff knowledgeable and our students second to none! I hope that you enjoy reviewing our website and have the opportunity to visit our campus soon. You may also go to the building highlights tab on the high school page to access a virtual tour of our high school.
