The R-P marching band stormed Ford Field Saturday night and came away with their fifth consecutive state championship defeating runner-up Walled Lake High School in a close finish.

R-P ‘s show “The Bucket List” took home captions for  best music and overall general effect on their way to the championship.

Marching band director, Mr. Chuck Hodson, was very pleased with his band’s performance and felt that their effort deserved the title.

The marching band leaves this Thursday for the Marching Band Grand Nationals in Indianapolis, IN with hopes of adding a national trophy to this season’s collection.

Save Money On Energy Use

Filed under: Community News,Parents,Staff,Students — Mr. Beckeman @ 3:56 pm

R-P’s energy management site director, Mr. Andy Hanichen has shared valuable information with us and I would like inform you of this great opportunity!  The following notes were provided by Mr. Hanichen:

Are you looking for an excuse not to rake leaves this weekend?  Are you interested in getting a handle on your energy costs or knowing what your personal environmental impact is for your home?  If you answered yes to either of these questions then you need to visit www.reeths-puffer.org and click on the GreenQuest icon.

What is GreenQuest?  GreenQuest is a FREE personal energy information website that makes it easy for you to track and evaluate your property’s energy use and cost and greenhouse emissions.  If you receive utility bills, you can use GreenQuest.

Why use GreenQuest?  If you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it.  GreenQuest makes it easy to measure your energy consumption and see how your efforts to conserve are paying off.  By entering your utility bill data into GreenQuest each month, you will be able to answer the following questions:

How much have I spent on utilities this year?

How much energy have I used?

Why has my utility bill increased (is it higher usage or higher rates)?

Has the weather affected my energy usage?

What is my property’s carbon footprint?

Are my efforts to conserve energy working?

How does my household energy cost and usage compare to other properties in my peer group?  Am I efficient, or not?

Reeths-Puffer is able to offer this to our staff and community FREE of charge through our affiliation with Energy Education Inc. and our energy software provider Good Steward Software.  It is very user friendly so check it out…start saving energy costs…and hire somebody to rake your leaves with your savings.

I hope you take advantate of this opportunity to conserve energy and save money at the same time!

Seniors: Don’t Delay!

College application deadlines are coming up quickly!  Parents and seniors…don’t delay in getting your college applications completed!  Below are some things to consider as you complete these applications:

1.  Many colleges have an “early admission” which has already ended or will end soon.
2.  Applying now will give you the chance to make other plans if the first plan doesn’t work out.
3.  Many of our students plan to attend the community college.  At Muskegon Community College, your student ID number is assigned based on when you apply.  The lower your ID number, the earlier you can schedule classes.  If you apply now, you are more likely to get the classes you want at the times you want.
4.  Many scholarship applications require that you fill out the college or university you will be attending.  As the year goes by, more and more of the deadlines for these scholarships will pass and the money will be awarded to someone else.
5.  Remind students that most colleges have a limit to the number of students they can admit.  For example, University “A” might admit 5,000 freshmen, so even if you have all the qualifying pieces (great GPA, high ACT score, tons of extra curriculars) and that university has already admitted their quota, you will be put on a waiting list.  Many more people are returning back to college right now because of a job loss, so the competition if fierce.  Early application will definitely help qualified students get admitted from the start and avoid waiting lists.

Given this information, it is to your benefit to get your applications in!  If you have any questions regarding the college application process, contact our counseling off at 744-1647 ext. 3702.
