Attention Juniors, Sophomores and Freshmen,
You have a chance to get your name in for a prize drawing the week of March 29th!
How do you get a ticket placed in the drawing? It’s easy…just increase your Lexile score by 75 points or more!
Each of you engaged in the Scholastic Reading Inventory (SRI) this month and were given a lexile score. A lexile measure is an indicator of how difficult a text is to comprehend based upon: (1) Word Frequency and (2) Sentence Length.
We had you engage in the SRI to provide your teachers with a research-supported predictor of how well you are likely to comprehend a particular text.
We are focusing our instruction specific to increasing your reading comprehension through the following strategies: (1) Direct Vocabulary Instruction and (2) Reciprocal Teaching as a reading comprehension strategy.
What you should do: READ outside of class! READ what is assigned to you by your teachers!! KNOW what your current lexile score is and FIGURE out what score you allow you to have your name placed in the drawing!
